How many plants for optimum growth

Knowing how many plants can fit in your grow tent/room matters. More doesn’t always mean more yield! By packing plants too close together you can stunt their growth and actually limit yield compared to fewer plants with more space.

Plants require space to grow upwards and outwards so getting your proportions correct is key to ensure you can get the most out of each plant. As a general rule, try and give each plant between 1-4m2 of space to grow. This will obviously vary depending on the type and size of plant you are growing so use this as a general rule when planning your grow set-up.

To get the area of your grow tent/room just multiply the width and the depth (how far across and how far back). That will give you the area which you can then use as a base for planning

Once you have your area sorted, you will know what sort of system you need to get. If you are picking a hydro system then you will now know what pot system to choose, however, do double check total system sizing to allow for the whole system including tank etc.

If you are using a medium potted system you should be using 50-60L of medium per 1m2. So based on how many plants per 1m2 you can work out your pot sizings:

1 x 56L pots

2 x 30L pots

4 x 12L pots
